LROC Series Winners: Lou Demian & Lucky Dog Racing Team
June 17, 2008: What a difference a couple of races make! When it looked somewhat bleak for Lucky Dog Racing after falling to last place, two big weeks propel the league up to first place. First it was Jordan Hunt winning race #5, now Lou Demian finally gets his first career LROC win in race #6.
The president of LDR set a new league record after scoring 967 points, the most of any member this season. Lou chose Carl Edwards, Jimmie Johnson and Tony Stewart in the Cup race; gained lots of points in the Nationwide segment after picking race winner Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski; he also took Kyle Busch in the Truck segment. Lou's win pushed him up 6 spots in the standings to 5th place, now just 60 points out of the lead.
The three different leagues each had a member in the first 3 spots in the finishing order. Lucky Dog Racing and FASCAR each had two members in the top 5, and FASCAR had the most members in the top 10 with 4.
Robert Batz led the way for FASCAR with his best career finish and first top 5 as he comes in 2nd place. Robert scored 929 points, also a personal best for him. He moves into the top 10 after jumping up 4 spots.
Larry Wagner gave P10 Select its lone top 5 representative after finishing 3rd. This is the 2nd top 5 for Larry, he also had a 2nd place finish in race #4. This week he moves up 2 spots to 4th place in the standings.
Karen Smith gets her third top 5 of the season as she comes in 4th this week. She has the most top 5's out of the 6 FASCAR members and leads the team as she moves into 3rd place, 33 points out of the lead.
Rounding out the top 5 is Lucky Dog's Dean Higley who continues his stellar season with his 5th top 5. Dean remains the points leader by 24 points over Jay Smogolski. Dean leads all members with the most top 5's and is tied with the most top 10's as well.
Unfortunately FASCAR and P10 Select suffered setbacks this week as each had a member that did not submit picks. Their bad luck benefitted Lucky Dog Racing to give them over a 1,000 point advantage over each league. After the halfway point in the season, Lucky Dog Racing now is in first place leading P10 Select by 910 points. FASCAR is just seven points behind them in third.
The Lucky Dog members now have at least a month of gloating before they try to extend their lead in the race #7 which will be the last weekend of July at Indianapolis. Make sure to check back then and cheer your favorite league on!
